Dietary hemp seed is also particularly rich in the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) in a perfect ratio to omega-6 linoleic acid (LA). The LA:ALA ratio normally exists in hemp seed at between 2:1 and 3:1 level. This proportion has been proposed to be ideal for a healthy diet.

Hemp returns loads of nutrients back to the soil in the form of unused parts. The stem, leaves, roots, and tops all help fertilise next season’s crop. The deep taproot helps loosen soil and protect against erosion.

It is almost as if this plant has been put here to heal the earth. After being planted in contaminated ground, not only does it “clean” the soil, but it can then safely be used for non-food purposes such as fibre and biofuel.
